So let’s close our eyes and dream!

Money means taking something successful and squeezing it to the fullest to keep making profits. Money is what I am offering to Nintendo by telling it how long it is taking to release a Zelda Kart .

The Japanese company has a clear emblem that is Mario , but it also has a very famous shadow hero, whom everyone seems to know but who not everyone knows how to locate and who often change their name. “Mario jumps, that’s what his games are about, right? They are platforms; but Mario is so famous that he goes beyond the platforms, Mario also hits, and Mario also dances and cooks and sails and skis and shoots and… competes in car races of doubtful legality. Meanwhile, Link … he dedicates himself to being Link… and kills bugs in the prairies of Hyrule, but don’t take him out! of Hyrule! -or Termina, or the place where he is being heroic at that moment-, if you have to put someone doing something in another game, let it be Tingle because, total, nobody cares too much about that secondary to tarnish the epic saga that saw him born ”. Until not too long ago this had been the mentality of the house, and in part it still is; And I wanted a Zelda Kart but Nintendo wouldn’t give it to me, although they ended up giving it to me in part, but it’s not what I wanted.

Do you remember Wii Play , that goofy Wii Sports imitation in which there was a cattle racing minigame? There it is! That was the germ of my dream game : if you could ride a cow on Wii Play, why you were not going to be able to ride a horse in Zelda Kart? What’s more, if in Ocarina of Time you had equine races, why leave that in a mere minigame? And more and more pieces have started to fit together, we have the precedents that this is possible and even that the resulting game can be fun, was Nintendo testing the waters with its two DLCs?

Nintendo has made an approximation to my dreams: he has given me a DLC in the Mario Kart 8 , in which he put Link on a motorcycle to compete against Mario – and who knows if the Mario Kart franchise will one day end up becoming a Smash, but that already It’s another illusory game! -, and as he saw that it had a certain grace, he also gave me a DLC in Breath of the Wild so that Link could go on a motorcycle, and since then that was already canon, I put Link back in Mario Kart in motorcycle but this time with the skins of the Breath of the Wild. And look, I still do not see the motorcycle thing – although I also tell you that I was the first to go through the Breath of the Wild map with my new toy, but that does not remove the fact that due to a lot of Sheikah technology that I justify me keep seeing it out of place -.

I maintain that the Zelda universe is hit by horses, but thanks to Breath of the Wild we have discovered the infinite possibilities of their mounts: white horses, black, brown, skeletal, giants, divine, bears, deer … and we continue to expand the universe of possibilities! I even grant you a bike as a selectable kart, a pelican, and even, why not ?, divine beasts. There are an infinite number of characters that we can rescue so that in these competitions they embody our racers, a lot of worlds to fly over, hundreds of possibilities to explore a new concept -but I am not going to elaborate on this fantasy too much because it happened to do Nintendo’s job for free -.

I am sure that they have always had in mind the possibility of offering us a title like this, but that they are waiting for the right moment to carry it out in Nintendo mode: without copying the Mario Kart formula, offering something different, creating a new genre within the racing genre.

And I’ll tell you one last thing, this year is 35 anniversary of the saga, what better time than this to present a new IP of the franchise? What better time to premiere Lon Lon Race ? -Yes, I like this name more, it has strength, it has style, it has hook-. If they don’t get it now, I don’t know when they will: here I leave my dream and my bet. What’s more, I feel quite optimistic after almost predicting Splatoon 3 TCFSY2WF, so I delete the dream and leave it in bet.
