Why you are far from done with Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been available since late last year. Whether you’ve completely finished this gigantic game, or have yet to embark on your Viking adventure, there’s more than enough to discover with upcoming new content!

This article is a Ubisoft affiliate post. Exactly what that means can be found on our partner content page.

We don’t use the word ‘gigantic’ lightly: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is full of adventures to easily take over a hundred hours. As the Viking Eivor you sail from icy Norway to England, where you build a real Viking village with your family and crew. During the game you can see this village grow into the living, busy center of England. Hunt animal hides for the residents, help develop new buildings by gathering materials and throw a wild Viking party every now and then: your haven really feels like home.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The world of Valhalla is filled to the brim with mysterious ruins, castles and caves where you will find all kinds of valuable loot, challenge fierce warriors and occasionally even consume a poisonous mushroom to experience the most bizarre hallucinations. And it wouldn’t be a game about Vikings if you didn’t track down various magical dimensions from the ancient Norse legends…

Free New Content for Everyone

So it’s still worth getting started on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. But you may know the countless rolling hills and cute villages like the back of your hand. Fortunately, the adventure is far from over, as there is a load of new content on the way for Valhalla.

All players can enjoy free content anyway. For example, every season in the game has a unique approach. For example, last December started the Yule season, which resulted in a festival in your Viking village. Not only was this location covered in a sparkling pack of snow, it also brought new challenges, from a drinking game to exciting new missions and even the ability to unlock new clothes.

The River Raids update also became available to everyone in February. This is an update where you can go on a raid with a ship of murderous Vikings. You can choose between different routes, which become more difficult with every settlement, monastery or army camp, with of course also more and more loot and even new skills.

Throughout the year, AC: Valhalla players can expect such seasonal updates – The new season will start in March, which will include an action-packed new game mode and new festivals.

Explore new countries with the Season Pass

In addition, there will be year two paid expansions to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Wrath of the Druids will be released in March, a big new expansion in which you travel to Ireland with Eivor. Here you will learn about a mysterious cult of druids, which you eventually hunt to take out one by one. Norse and English legends give way to Celtic myths here. The majestic Irish environments – including many natural landscapes and the busy trading city of Dublin – add even more variety to the game. Wrath of the Druids has a lurid, dark atmosphere that makes it a unique and essential expansion for fans.

The second paid expansion, The Siege of Paris, will be released in the summer of this year. The name says it all: with your ship you travel to France in an attempt to conquer the iconic capital. This battle is one of the best known and most epic Viking stories ever, so that promises something! Conquer the Seine River and attack Paris to enter the history books. Not all brutal combat is the answer: By forging new character collaborations, you may be able to shape Paris from the inside out.

Both Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris are part of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Season Pass, which can be purchased separately. In fact, if you bought the Gold or Ultimate Edition of Valhalla, you already own the Season Pass and can download the expansions anyway.

The adventure can begin

The Discovery Tour will also be launched this year. Players of recent Assassin’s Creed games already know what to expect. The standard gameplay is exchanged for an educational tour, in which you get all kinds of details about the real England and Norway of the time. This not only gives you an even better chance to enjoy the beautiful graphics and highly designed environments, you also improve your knowledge of the history of mankind in a playful way! Who Said Gaming Couldn’t Be Educational?

So the adventure in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is far from over. If you haven’t gotten around to the game yet, now is the ideal time to dive in. No gamer should have missed the epic journey you take with Eivor. And if you are already familiar with this wonderful world, then you have reason enough in the coming months to restart Valhalla and experience new adventures. Blow your Viking horn and hoist the sides, let the looting begin!

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Google Stadia and Amazon Luna through the Ubisoft Store. On the Ubisoft Store, with 100 Ubisoft Connect points you always get a 20% discount on your purchase.
