Two Latvian basketball players – Mārtiņš Meiers from the “Astana” team and Perm “Parma” representative Mareks Mejeris – are running for participation in the VTB United League Star Game, informs the media “Eurohoops”.

The United League has named an expanded line-up of 66 players for the Star Game, which will take place on February 14 in Moscow at the VTB Arena. These basketball players have received the most support in the fan vote, but there will still be a media vote, after which the final composition of both teams will be determined. Russian and world stars will compete in the United League Star Game

Fans from January 14 to 25 could vote for their favorites on the platform “VKontakte”. The organizers of the tournament, summarizing the results, determined the three Russian players who received the most votes and the three legionnaires who received the most votes.

29 years old Meier received the second highest number of votes from his team. 11% voted for the Latvian center, while the convincing leader in the “Astana” team is Jeremy Hill, who has won the support of 62.3% of fans. It is significant that there are no Russian players in the Astana team. The 29-year-old Meyer, on the other hand, received the second largest number of votes in the Parma legionnaires’ competition. 7.3% voted for him, while Ads Juskevičs got the biggest support among the legionnaires, with 77.3%.

Not guaranteed that both Latvians will participate in the Star Game. However, their nominations will be considered and the formations will be finalized after a media vote.
