The sales market of IT companies in Hungary no longer dominates the sales market of IT companies, but the comprehensive research of Kvazar.cloud, which deals with the provision of cloud-based services, no longer dominates its own specialty store. Own specialty business is no longer the key to success

The first part of the research assessed the core activities of enterprises, ie that dealt with exactly in 2020 by IT resellers and what demands are coming to them for which they need to offer solutions. The results showed that four of the main activities in IT enterprises were performed by respondents with high frequency. With a small variance, they were also assigned a value of around 90% for the activities “Operation, maintenance”, “System design, construction, system administration”, “Consulting, training” and “Sales”

“Retail sale of information technology equipment” (own specialist shop) “is carried out by less than one third (31.14%) of the respondents. On the one hand, this form of sales is costly and, on the other hand, companies with specialist shops not only sell to companies and institutions, but also target a wider customer base, which requires additional resources and investment.

Scope of services: a support is greatest

In terms of sales, the companies surveyed identified eight different main directions. “Support” finished in first place in the category with an average of 92.98%. In addition, office applications, training and consulting, infrastructure improvements, operations services, and IT security products were evaluated with relatively equal frequency. Both operating systems and system integration were rated above 80%, but lagged behind the other items

In addition to the frequency, the importance of the activities was also assessed. According to the respondents, the most important thing is the sale of operating services, followed by support and software that supports office productivity. Below the value of four, IT security products and infrastructure improvements received almost the same score. Operating systems and systems integration solutions were rated above average, while education and consulting services were at the bottom of the list, which was considered to be of medium importance with an indicator of 3.29.

Target group: many small companies serve an average customer base

The range of services and products sold is significantly influenced by the target group. In terms of business consumers, the main partners of the respondents are small and medium-sized enterprises. The second most common customers are micro-enterprises, i.e. it can be stated that the majority of resellers have a wide, relatively diversified customer base, as they deliver a solution to several partners at the same time. For the time being, domestic and international large companies, state and local government bodies contribute less to sales revenue.

The frequency of tools offered to address cyber security threats varies widely, with large differences between the six options. The most popular services of this kind are data backup and disaster recovery tools, which indicates that market demand is really increasing when the trouble has already occurred, i.e. some kind of attack has hit customers. In addition to everyday experience, this assumption is supported by the finding that the least common products are IT security policies and internal cyber security audits, ie customers do not yet perceive the threat at an adequate level and few companies keep their network up to date .

Flexibility is the main value of cloud technology

In addition to IT security solutions, there have been responses to the general demand for cloud technology. Each of the five characteristics presented in the research received a positive response, with small differences in the order of importance. The most important advantage for IT resellers as decision makers is that data can be accessed from anywhere and on any device with cloud technology, a feature that has reached a value of 4.66 on a scale of 5.

The second most important aspect is to allow flexible work, followed by the same score for safety and cost-effective operation. The result of automation and low support demand of 3.98 is also good, ie this advantage was also considered important by the respondents.

The risks of cloud-based technology were not assessed as significant by the respondents. Threats considered moderate can be traced back to infrastructural reasons: both an unstable Internet connection and an overloaded network are primarily indicative of a hardware fleet problem. The price, lack of accessibility, and potential security risk have scored low, so they don’t hinder the introduction of the technology.
