The IAEA announced, on Thursday, that Iran has switched to using one set of centrifuges at the Natanz facility above ground to enrich uranium to 60%, instead of two previously.
The agency report said : “The Agency has confirmed that Iran has changed the pattern of producing uranium enriched to 60 percent of purity at the Natanz facility.”
The report added that “Iran is now using one set of centrifuges that enrich up to 60 percent.”
A report by the International Atomic Energy Agency, Wednesday, showed that Iran has installed additional advanced centrifuges at the uranium enrichment facility, which is built underground in Natanz, and is planning to add more, to increase its violations of the restrictions of the nuclear agreement concluded with the major powers.
The agency report submitted to the member states stated that, On April 21, 2021, the Agency verified the installation of 6 kits containing up to 1044 IR-2M centrifuges, and two groups containing up to 348 IR-4 centrifuges. Some of them are in use. ”
The report added, Wednesday, that I. Iran has informed the agency that it plans to install four additional sets of IR-4 devices at the enrichment facility in Natanz.
Iran is proceeding with the installation of advanced enrichment equipment, although it was not permitted to use them under the agreement signed in 2015.
A previous IAEA report on April 1 had stated that Iran was using 696 IR-2M enrichment devices and 174 IR-4 devices at the Natanz facility.
The European parties, signatories to the nuclear agreement with Iran, announced earlier Wednesday that they had witnessed progress in the first two rounds of indirect US-Iranian negotiations aimed at reviving the agreement, but there are still great obstacles that must be overcome.
