Latvian tennis player Anastasia Sevastova continued the season in Melbourne on Saturday in the “Phillip Island WTA 250” national tournament, where in the first round she gave way to Anna Anna Bogdana from Romania. Sevastova, who takes the 53rd place in the WTA rank and was placed 14th in this tournament, gave way to the 96th place owner Bogdana with 6-4, 3-6, 3-6. After that she started in the Australian Open Championship, but already in the first round with 3-6, 1-6 lost to Estonian Kaija Kanepi (WTA 65).

Bogdan played two games in the “Yarra Valley Classic WTA 500” tournament, losing 3-6, 3-6 in the second round to the leader from Australia Ashley Barthy. Like Sevastova, she did not win the first round of the Australian Open, where she lost 3-6, 1-6 to American Danielle Rose Collins (WTA 40).

The two tennis players had met twice during their careers, splitting the victories in half. In 2017, in the quarterfinals of the Bucharest tournament, the Romanian was superior with 6-1, 6-3, but two years ago in the same tournament, the Liepaja woman celebrated the victory with 5-7, 7-6 (7: 4), 7-5. During his career, Sevastova won four singles in the WTA tour, while Bogdana is still looking to win the first trophy.
