KfW’s promotion of private wallboxes has been running largely unabated since November 2020 with around 2,500 applications per day. Now the federal government is providing another 100 million euros.

Funding applications have already been submitted for over 300,000 wall boxes, the Federal Ministry of Transport has announced. This corresponds to a funding volume of 270 million euros. Because the demand remains at a high level, the federal government is now making another 100 million euros available. This means that a further 111,000 wallboxes can be funded. As before, the KfW development bank (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) accepts applications for funding for the construction of private charging stations.

Federal Transport Minister is happy about the “perfect funding”

Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) is delighted with the “enormous demand”, which shows that his ministry is “spot on” with the funding program . In fact, the wallbox funding can be described as a success story.

On the first day of acceptance of the funding application, 16,000 applications were submitted. In the first week KfW was literally flooded with 85,000 applications. This had led to a temporary overload of the application acceptance via the so-called grant portal of KfW.

The idea behind the funding is that the majority of future charging processes private land. Accordingly, the state is promoting the acquisition and construction of a new, non-publicly accessible charging station including the electrical connection with the 900 euro program.

This applies to the wallbox -Funding should be noted

The promotion is not without hooks and eyes. It is very important that funding must be applied for before the project begins. If you have already bought your wallbox but not yet installed it, look into the tube.

In addition, the private charging station must be operated with green electricity or electricity from your own photovoltaic system. Last but not least, it may only have a maximum charging power of eleven kilowatts and it must be “intelligently controlled”. The charging capacity limitation can also be adhered to by a technical throttling.
