Pokémon: This was the beta design of Smoochum
Pokémon: This was the beta design of Smoochum
If you are followers of the news of Pokémon , you will already know the abundant number of creatures that presented a design quite changed compared to the current one during the development of the video games in which they were released.
Well, one of these cases is that of Smoochum , the preevolution by Jynx , which was introduced in the 2nd Generation of the saga with the deliveries Gold and Silver for Game Boy . It turns out that this beta design resembled its evolution more than the final model, featuring longer hair and a kind of dress. In addition, it has also been discovered that his type was going to be ice exclusively (currently he also has psychic), and that his name would be «Rippu» .
You can take a look at his sprite and a recreation of this, made by the user ‘RacieBeep’ , since the publication of Dr. Lava on Twitter that we leave you below:
Beta Smoochum:
In Gold & Silver’s 1997 demo, Smoochum was originally pure Ice-type and named “Rippu” (which means Lip). But she was later renamed, redesigned, and revised to Ice / Psychic type.
