2021 is the “year of the Gryphon” and the first expansion that Hearthstone players can expect this year is Forged in the Barrens. The expansion introduces 135 new cards, new keywords and mechanics. Ten Legendary Mercenary Minions will also be added.
Blizzard has unveiled even more new content for Hearthstone. For example, a new Hearthstone Core Set is launching, replacing the existing Basic and Classic sets with a curated selection of 235 cards, including previously released and completely new cards.
Also new is Hearthstone Classic, which allows players to play with the original 2014 maps and rules. The Core set contains 160 class cards and 75 neutral cards, including new versions of Legendary minions such as the Deathwing, Malygos and Ysera dragons.
Hearthstone Mercenaries, a new single-player mode for the game, should also be released later this year in which players create teams of heroes and villains and take them through a series of tactical random-generated battles. The heroes and villains will gain experience, weapons and new moves as you play.
