The previously canceled shooter Six Days in Fallujah is still being made by Highware. This is evident from a new announcement trailer.

Originally Konami release the shooter that would depict the 2004 battle of Fellujah, Iraq. However, the game was canceled in 2009 due to criticism from soldiers and politicians, among others, for ‘glorifying’ violence during the event.

Eleven years later, publisher Vicuna and developer Highrise leave the game after all. Jaime Griesemer, lead designer of Halo and Destiny, Marty O’Donnel, audio director and composer for Halo and Destiny and Jared Noftle, founder of Airtight Games, are at the helm of the game.

Vicuna emphasizes that it works closely with marines and soldiers to tell the story authentically.

“It is difficult to understand what war is through fake people doing fake things in fake places. This generation, like others in history, made sacrifices and showed courage in Iraq. And now they offer us a new way to understand one of the most important events of this century. It’s time to debunk outdated stereotypes of what video games can be “

Six Days in Fallujah will be released on PC and consoles in 2021.
