Zynga acquires Echtra Games, the developer of Torchlight 3.

That was announced via BusinessWire. It is not known what amount will be involved in the acquisition. When the acquisition is complete, the studio will work on a new RPG for multiple systems. They do this together with Zynga studio NaturalMotion. More information about this new game, except that cross-platform play is part of it, is not yet available.

Echtra Games was founded in 2016 by Max Schaefer, who has pioneered such franchises as Diablo and Torchlight. Echtra Games includes multiple employees who previously worked at Blizzard and Runic Games – the now-closed developer of the first two Torchlight games.

Zynga is a game company from the United States that mainly creates browser games. They are known from, among others, CityVille, ZyngaPoker and FarmVille.
