Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) resigned Friday from the board of a popular Christian advocacy organization after the group asked him to step down in action to his spoken attack on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) previously in the week.

Bread for the World, a nonpartisan group that looks for to minimize cravings and hardship through public policy efforts, revealed Yoho’s departure in a declaration on Saturday.

“We believe that Rep. Ted Yoho’s recent actions and words as reported in the media are not reflective of the ethical standards expected of members of our Board of Directors,” the group stated in its declaration.

The declaration continued: “Bread sought his resignation as an action that reaffirms our commitment to coming alongside women and people of color, nationally and globally, as they continue to lead us to a more racially inclusive and equitable world.”

Yoho’s office did not instantly react to HuffPost’s ask for comment.

The Republican congressman dealt with extreme reaction today following his reported outburst against Ocasio-Cortez as she was strolling up the Capitol actions in Washington on Monday.

He called her “disgusting” for recommending that joblessness and hardship lagged the current uptick in criminal activity in New york city City, according to The Hill press reporter Mike Lillis, who experienced the conflict.

“You are out of your freaking mind,” Yoho informed Ocasio-Cortez, who reacted by stating that he was being “rude.”
