Yakuza games are now turn-based

The Yakuza games will remain turn-based. That says creator Toshihiro Nagoshi during an interview with IGN.

Up to and including the sixth part, the Yakuza games known for a real-time combat system where players can use objects in the environment. With Yakuza: Like a Dragon that changed and the developer opted for a turn-based combat system inspired by Dragon Quest.

“The Yakuza series has been transformed into a turn-based RPG,” said Nagoshi. “On the other hand, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio has built the resources to develop a flashy and exciting action game. We have therefore decided to continue our signature action gameplay through Lost Judgment.”

Lost Judgment is the second installment in Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s other series. The game will be released on September 24 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
