José Delbo, who was the illustrator of Wonder Woman (Wonder Woman) put up for sale a series of non-fungible tokens (NFT) based on this character from the publisher DC Comics. Through an auction that lasted four days, Delbo managed to raise USD 1.85 million.

Delbo is a visual artist of Argentine origin who worked in the field of American comics for more than 30 years. He managed to sell 914 tokens linked to the drawings he made about the superheroine between 1976 and 1981.

For this , partnered with the Italian “crypto art” duo Hackatao , in order to create the Heroines token series. “ Weight of the world ” was the most expensive piece in this collection. It features Wonder Woman holding the world with a backdrop that represents empowerment. This work of art was sold for 148.88 ether (ETH) or approximately USD 299,000.

Non-fungible tokens are digital assets or tokenized versions of the real world that have the peculiarity of not be interchangeable with each other and can function as proof of authenticity and ownership within the digital world.

In the Wonder Woman NFT description, the artwork is presented as follows :

This is a digital creation signed and limited edition. You are purchasing all non-commercial rights to this creation. After purchase, this creation will be transferred to your digital wallet. You can download the full size application to display it or you can even print it for your personal use.

This means that the purchase of a NFT gives its holder an original piece of art and its certificate of authenticity. For this particular auction, Delbo and Hackatao created distinctive artwork involving Wonder Woman . Each of them is limited to a certain number of NFTs.

Each of the 914 NFTs auctioned featured one of seven illustrations or animated gifs of Wonder Woman in scenes related to the empowerment of women.

The auctioned tokens included two unique editions, four “open limited editions” in which a limited quantity of NFT while the auction is in progress, and one edition of which no more than 10 copies can be sold.

Wonder Woman is a fictional superhero created by William Moulton Marson for the DC Comics publishing house. The character appears published for the first time in the comic magazine All Star Comics # 8 of 1941. Wonder Woman is a warrior princess of the Amazons , fictional town inspired by Greek mythology. She is endowed with a wide range of superhuman powers and superior battle combat abilities.

Delbo also sold a Batman NFT

Although NFTs have been circulating in the cryptocurrency market for several years, they have gained particular popularity in recent months. On October 19, 2020, Delbo sold a tokenized version of Batman on Ethereum for 302.5 ether (ETH), which he represented at the time of the auction about USD 111,000. It is an NFT in which an animation is shown at the time of making the work about the superhero of Gotham City.

As CriptoNoticias reported on that occasion, the piece called “Genesis” was a work between Delbo and the Canadian artist Trevor Jones. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also launched himself on the NFT market turning his first tweet into a Non-fungible token on the Ethereum-based platform created on the social network Valuables, by Cent. The NFT is up for auction for more than USD 2 million.

The first tweet from the founder of the social network, which says « just setting up my twttr »(Just configuring my Twitter”), was written in March 2006 and is now auctioned as a digital souvenir.
