This is how Articuno has evolved from its initial sprite to the design it has today

On the web we have already told you about some legendary Pokémon that radically changed their appearance in the different phases of their development, such as Raikou. However, the example of Articuno is also particularly striking.

Its evolution is not so much a process of redesign but of small adjustments that have been made to the Pokémon since it was conceived as a sprite for the first Pokémon games. In fact, the first big change can be seen precisely from the step from sprite to art.

Apparently, Ken Sugimori , in charge of creating the arts of the first Pokémon from the sprites already existed, he decided to make it look quite different from what could be deduced from the set of pixels. This is something that we can observe especially in the size of the wings, the head and the tail.

But it did not stop there. The first art of the Pokémon that was created was also revised years later until the design with which we know it today. In the image that we leave you below, we can see its evolution from the original sprite to its initial art of 1996 and the final art that was created later in 2004 .

What do you think?
