High-end electric limousine of the German brand is officially presented

Mercedes presented this Thursday the new EQS. A lot had already been (pre-) revealed by the German brand about its 100% electric top of the range that arrives this year: from powers to autonomy through design and for the interior luxury. But a ‘cherry’ was missing … and for the top of the cake a 750 hp version was announced …

Mercedes ‘zero emissions’ limousine – in a all-electric equivalence of the S-Class – a platform for electric vehicles of the German brand debuts. The carbon neutral EQS made at Factory 56 is even the first Mercedes “designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle.”

The new Mercedes EQS will offer a range of up to 770 km between the two versions of its launch. The 450+ with an electric motor and rear-wheel drive will have a power of 245 KW (329 hp) and a torque of 568 Nm. The 580 4Matic will have 385 kW (516 hp) of power and 855 Nm of torque.

Both versions have the maximum speed announced for 210 km / h, but the performance differs. The EQS 450+ accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds, while the more powerful 580 4Matic does it in just 4.3 seconds. Consumption also varies, respectively, between 20.4-15.7 kWh / 100 km and 21.8-17.4 kWh / 100 km.

We are now waiting for numbers that will bring the announced “performance version” that Mercedes revealed is already “planned” with a power of 560 kW (750 hp) …

EQS batteries will have a capacity of 90 kWh or 107.8 kWh, with the charging time of the most powerful in fast stations with direct current (DC) supporting a power 200 kW to stay for 31 minutes – in 15 minutes, the EQS 450+ carries energy for up to 300 km, while the 580 4 Matic for up to 280 km.

The new Mercedes EQS measures 5,216 mm long, 1,926 mm wide and 1,512 having a luggage compartment with a load capacity between 610 and 1,770 liters. With a range of rims between 19 and 22 inches, the steering wheels on the rear axle with a 4.5º turning angle are standard, but torque vectoring is reserved for the 580 4Matic, which also weighs an additional 105 kg (2,585 kg).

In this Thursday’s digital presentation – which featured the vision of director James Cameron and singer Alicia Keys – it also became known that all European customers will have one year of free charging on the Ionity network. Among the new features of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) information and entertainment system available in the EQS ‘rookie ‘ hyperscreen ‘ is the function that informs you if the stored energy on the battery is enough to return to the starting point without charging.

Among the many options that will be available for the new Mercedes EQS – how to increase the turning angle for the 10th, for example, in the elevation of what already comes as standard – the possibility of opening or closing doors without physical contact, as well as assistants in conditioned autonomous driving (level 3) in sections of motorways with slow traffic, is particularly important at 60 km / h, where the law allows, as will happen in Germany.
