The decision for the first places on the grid was made until the last passage on the finish line in Q2 and Bagnaia was the only driver to run in 1´52s, beating Quartararo, who was second, by 0.266s.
Maverick Viñales (Yamaha) took the last place on the first row of the grid, who finished Qualifying in third place at 0.316s from Bagnaia
The second row will be occupied by Valentino Rossi (SRT Ymaha), Jack Miller (Ducati) and Johann Zarco (Pramac).
Miguel Oliveira already was not in this Q2, as the Portuguese KTM failed to pass the Q1 having been the fifth fastest in the first qualifying round and therefore will occupy 15th place on the fifth row of the grid.
The GP of Qatar is the first event of the MotoGP World Championship this year and the race takes place on Sunday on the Losail circuit.
