Pakistan reaffirms support for China’s HK national security law

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday declared its support for China’s brand-new national security legislation for its Hong Kong Unique Administrative Area, stating Hong Kong belongs of China and it is necessary for China to secure its sovereignty, territorial stability, and secure the lives of its people.

“Pakistan’s position on Hong Kong is principled, consistent, and clear. Pakistan adheres to One-China policy.” Foreign Office (FO) representative Aisha Farooqui stated at a news instruction.

Aisha added that Pakistan reaffirms that matters associated to Hong Kong are China’s internal affairs and repeats it is necessary to support international law and abide by the fundamental standard of non-interference.

The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China voted to pass the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Unique Administrative Area on May 28.

Pakistan, together with more than 50 countries at the 44 th session of the United Nations Person Rights Council (UNHRC), voiced company support for China’s national security legislation for Hong Kong and strong opposition to disturbance in China’s internal affairs.
