British brand will produce only nine units of this model that will feature a V8 engine
Morgan has revealed that it will produce a special edition of Plus 8, called GTR, which will be limited to just nine units.
The brand British company, made it known that the production of this Morgan Plus 8 GTR that will start in the summer, only became possible after having managed to acquire chassis of the original model, from an external entity.
The new model will feature BMW’s 4.8-liter V8 block, capable of producing 367 horsepower, coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox, or alternatively, a ZF automatic transmission.
“Reviving a Morgan with a V8 engine at the moment may not seem like the obvious choice for a manufacturer focused on new platforms and engines. However, when the opportunity arose to acquire a series of chassis and create a special project like Plus 8 GTR, we quickly embraced the idea. This project allows Morgan’s design and engineering teams to experience some features that we hope will emerge in future Morgan models ” , stressed Jonathan Wells, design director of the British brand.
Morgan made it known that the limited edition of the Plus 8 GTR, is inspired by the GT competition model, known as ‘Big Blue’, which the brand developed in the 90’s last century, which was the basis of the new aluminum chassis that replaced the traditional steel chassis in 2004.
This new Morgan Plus 8 GTR is one of several special projects from the brand to be unveiled this year.
