Jorge Masvidal might have lost in a one-sided loss at UFC 251, but it seems like he’s not letting the defeat get to him, sharing a toast with his team following the event.
In an Instagram video post of the toast, Masvidal says that while not everything they expected came to fruition, most of the plan did, and Masvidal offered a toast to “making money.”
Masvidal also offered thank yous to his fanbase, as well as to those on the plane, including his manager, Abe Kawa, and MMA fighter Charles Decca.

Masvidal challenged rival Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight championship in the UFC 251 main event. While it seemed early in 2020 that Masvidal and Usman would meet in the summer, it didn’t seem as likely when Masvidal and the UFC weren’t coming to terms.
Masvidal, along with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, publicly took issue with the UFC’s payment of fighters, and even at one point requested to be released by the promotion.
Usman would end up getting booked for the card against Gilbert Burns, but Burns tested positive for coronavirus on July 3 and was forced off the card. That 4th of July weekend, the UFC and Masvidal entered into negotiations once again and Masvidal got an offer he was genuinely happy with, and after screening unfavorable for COVID-19, the battle was made official on July 5.
Usman got Masvidal down in the opening round of their title battle, just for Masvidal to return to his feet and utilize his striking to his benefit. Masvidal did his best over the next 4 rounds and held back numerous takedown efforts from Usman, however the champ’s grappling work was excessive, and Usman swept the cards to a consentaneous decision win.
