ENSE data indicates that fuel consumption increased by 59% in April compared to 2020
According to information from the agency Lusa, citing data from ENSE (National Entity for the Energy Sector), after the deflation, fuel consumption increased by 59% in April, compared to the homologous period of 2020.
“ Introductions to consumption registered by operators through Balcão Único da Energia registered a significant acceleration in April 2021 compared to April 2020, with an increase of 59%, from 336,815 to 535,533 tons ”, ENSE refers in a statement to Lusa.
In April there was a total increase of 34,087 tons, + 6.8% compared to March.

Analyzing the evolution of consumption in April, according to the revealed data, and, compared to the month previous year, there was a total increase of 34,087 tonnes (+ 6.8%), “, also highlighting the acceleration of Jet (+ 42.97%) and gasoline ( +15.58%) ”. (ndr. jet: aircraft fuel)
In the other gas oils, consumption increased by 5.07% in April compared to March.
“ This growth is not unrelated to the empirical assessment that there is also a resumption or acceleration of numerous economic activities, with greater circulation of vehicles and, therefore, a higher level of demand and consumption of petroleum products ”, refers ENSE to Lusa.
However, ENSE – En “If we compare the levels of introductions to consumption from April 2021 to April 2019 (pre-pandemic), it is clear that we are still 23.53% below what was verified, especially the Jet (-73.46%), but showing that there is still a recovery path that must be followed ”, he maintains.
