The Chinese company’s intentions are revealed by the Reuters agency

The Chinese technology company Huawei is preparing to enter the electric vehicle market and the launch of the first models with the brand of the company best known for their phones could happen as early as this year.

The news was advanced by Reuters citing four different sources, although the news agency did not obtain official confirmation of the information from the Chinese technology company, or from the others referred to in the revealed project.

According to Reuters reports, Huawei Technologies is in talks with Chinese state-owned company Changan Automobile and other car manufacturers to use its factories to produce electric vehicles; as well as the manufacturing process also involves talks with BluePark New Energy Technology of the state-owned and involved in the automotive sector Baic Group.

Contacted by the news agency, Huawei denied the advance plans “Huawei is not a car manufacturer” said a spokesman for the company, stressing, despite its assumed role as “supplier of digital components oriented to cars” allowing the “manufacture of better vehicles”.

Reuters, meanwhile, reinforces, according to its sources, that Huwaei internally started the design of electric vehicles having already established contact with home suppliers with the purpose of officially launching the project later this year and targeting a mass market segment.
