Halo 3 gets a new multiplayer map

More than ten years after the previous map for the game, Halo 3 will soon receive a new map via Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

In 2009 the last new maps for the game appeared in the form of the Mythic 2 Map Pack. In a new blog post on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries announces that the map comes from the beta test of Halo Online. Developed by Saber Interactive, this online-only version of Halo has been temporarily released as a closed beta in Russia only.

343 has not yet announced which folder will the game is being brought to Halo 3, but a screenshot accompanying the message is of the ‘Waterfall’ map, a snowy and icy map. So it may be that folder.

Previously 343 Industries hinted at “a new way and place to play Halo”, and possibly that hint for the new folder. Members of the beta program of Halo: The Master Chief Collection will probably be able to get started with the map from next Thursday, but when other players can start is not yet known. )
