Free Radical Design re-established to create new Timesplitters

Publisher Deep Silver has re-founded developer Free Radical Design to work on a new installment in the Timesplitters franchise.

The game’s development should be sometime in the next months begin – at this point the focus is on filling all key positions within the studio Several people who were also in the original Free Radical Design are already part of the team, including founders Steve Ellis and David Doak.

The British Free Radical Design was founded in 1999 and is best known for the Timesplitters series. Various developers also worked on the popular shooter GoldenEye 007 and the Timesplitters series is seen as a spiritual continuation of that gameplay. The studio was bought by Crytek in 2009 and closed in 2014.

“To finally confirm that the studio is back in business and that we have a plan for the following Timesplitters is incredible, ”said Steve Ellis. “We can’t tell you more than that, but look forward to sharing more details in the future.”
