Mini Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW debuts in Rome

Mini has developed an “extreme version” of the Mini Electric that will be the new Formula E Safety Car and that is an indicator of what could be coming up with the electrification of the John Cooper Works performance brand.

The Mini Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW, in the extensive descriptive designation of the brand, “clearly not it is intended for use on public roads ”, but, in the words of Bernd Körber, the leader of Mini,“ reveals one of the directions ”that“ can be taken in the electrification of the JCW brand ”. “For me, the message is clear: electrification and John Cooper Works fit well,” says Körber.

With a design designed to minimize weight, the front with lights built into the hood highlight the Safey Car function, but this Mini does not dispense with the usual round headlights and the hexagonal grille. The JCW signature extends through the aerodynamic appendages with special prominence in the imposing rear.

The interior dispenses with elements that influence the weight, with several applications of carbon fiber, but including a cell of security. Based on the Mini Cooper SE, which removes 130 kg of weight, this Pacesetter is equipped with an electric motor with 135 kW (181 hp) of power and 280 Nm of torque making from 0 to 100 km / h 6.7 seconds and from 80 at 120 km / h 4.3 seconds.

With 18 ” John Cooper Works wheels and Michelin tires like the front of Formula E cars and racing suspension, the Mini Electric Pacessetter inspired by JCW will make its debut as Safety Car of the electric single seater championship at the Rome e-Prix, on April 10, with Bruno Correia at the wheel.
