Ducati starts production of the new Monster that hits the market in April
Monster is the best-selling motorcycle in the history of the Italian brand with 350,000 units sold
Ducati announced the start of production of the new Monster that will arrive on the market next April.
The Borgo Panigale factory, received the pilots of Francesco Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini, who were present at the assembly stage of the first model to leave the production line of the new Ducati Monster.
With more than 350 thousand units produced , Monster is the best-selling model of the Italian manufacturer and the new version is inspired by the original philosophy of 1993: a sport naked light and essential, with the frame derived from a superbike and a powerful engine that is, at the same time, ideal for use on the road.
The new Monster has a 937 cc bicylindrical engine and a maximum power of 111 hp at 9,250 rpm with a torque of 9.5 kgm at 6,500 rpm .
Thanks to the increase in engine capacity compared to the 821 cc version, the torque has improved in all regimes, particularly in low-medium, usually the most used on the road and between curves.
Monster is also equipped with a new gearbox and the Ducati Quick Shift Up / Down, which is part of the standard equipment.
Ducati engineers and designers have devoted great attention to reducing the the total weight of the new Monster and for this they redesigned the sub-frame, rims, swingarm and, above all, the frame, which is now an aluminum frame ‘Front Frame’ with the engine as a supporting element, conceptually like that of Panigale V4 and 4.5 kg lighter (60% less) than the truss frame.
The work done on the chassis, as well as the 2.6 kg weight reduction on the engine, reduced Monster’s dry weight to only 166 kg (20 kg less than Monster 821), translating it on a more agile motorcycle in traffic.
Ducati also revealed that it also improved the bike’s ergonomics compared to the 821 version, by repositioning the seat closer to the handlebar, which it allows the driver to maintain a more upright position and carrying less weight on his wrists, with greater control over the bike.
Among the standard electronic equipment, ABS Cornering, as well as Traction Control and Wheelie Control, all adjustable at different levels of intervention. The sporty character of the bike is also underlined by Launch Control, which ensures quick starts.
The new Monster is equipped with three driving modes, Sport, Urban and Touring that make it possible to shape the character of the bike according to tastes and needs, which are managed through the controls on the handlebars and on the instrument panel with a 4.3 ” color TFT screen, characterized by sporty graphics with a great account -rotations showing the indication of the gear in the center, to always have the essential information under control when driving sports.
