Prohibition of movement between municipalities will extend until Easter

The

plan decommissioning announced by the Government on Thursday, starts on Monday, maintaining the ban on movement between municipalities in the coming weekends.

In this way, circulation between municipalities in mainland Portugal is prohibited again between 8:00 pm on this Friday and until 5:00 am on Monday, within the scope of the state of emergency to combat the covid-19 pandemic, subject to the exceptions provided.

Note that circulation between the 278 municipalities on the continent during the weekend will again be banned on March 20 and 21, as well as in the Easter period, between March 26 and April 5.

The measure, which will already be part of the 13th state of emergency enacted in the country due to the covid-19 pandemic and will be in force between 17 and 31 March, intends “ensuring that Easter is not a time of travel and meeting, but, on the contrary, another moment of confinement” , justified the Prime Minister, António Costa.

It is recalled that there are a number of exceptions to the prohibition of movement between municipalities, including travel for the performance of professional functions (as attested by a statement issued by the employer or equivalent), for health reasons and for the fulfillment of parental responsibilities.
