Cross-play for Rainbow Six Siege on consoles still in the works

Ubisoft is still working on cross-play and cross-progression for Rainbow Six Siege on consoles.

“We are actively working on cross-progression and cross-play,” director Jean-Baptiste Halle reports in a recent interview with PC Gamer about the upcoming sixth year of content for the tactical shooter. “As far as consoles are concerned, it would be great if PlayStation and Xbox gamers could play together.”

Rainbow Six Siege does have cross-play between PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and also between Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One, but not between the different console brands. So this is on the way, although Halle gave no indication of a release date.

It is not yet clear whether the PC version of Rainbow Six Siege cross play or cross progression with the console versions. “I can see the advantages, but also the disadvantages. So in that respect it is still too early to communicate about that.”

Last weekend, the first season of the sixth year of Rainbow Six Siege revealed. The season is called Crimson Heist and it features new operator Flores. There will also be a new version of the Border map.
