Coronavirus: Almost 40,000 have died with COVID-19 in England and Wales, ONS says

The variety of people to have died with coronavirus in England and Wales, approximately 8 May, was almost 40,000, official figures show.

The Office for National Data has stated the number stands at 39,071

Weekly deaths in England and Wales in the week ending 8 May were 12,657 – a decrease for the 3rd week running, however 3,081 more than the five-year average for week 19, Sky’s economics editor Ed Conway stated.

Of those, 3,930 discussed COVID-19 in the certificate – 31.1% of all deaths; a decrease of 2,105 deaths compared with the week in the past.

The variety of deaths in care houses from all causes for week 19 reduced from 6,409 to 4,248

Nevertheless, deaths including COVID-19 as a portion of all deaths in care houses continued to rise to 39.2% compared with 37.8% in week 18.
