Comedian Jay Pharoah says LA police officer ‘took his knee and put it on my neck’

The post, which features video footage from a security cam, appears to show the 32- year-old strolling down a street prior to an officer adds behind him with a weapon drawn as a police vehicle shows up with more officers.

Pharoah stated the police launched him after getting a call validating he was not the male they were trying to find.

Pharoah stated he had not “experienced first-hand racism in America until this year”.
“Black lives always matter, my life matters. I’m still here to tell my story, but I could have easily been an Ahmaud Arbery or a George Floyd,” he stated.
He ended the Instagram video by recreating the scene of having a knee on his neck while on the ground and stated: “I actually might have been George Floyd.
” We as a nation can’t breathe any longer, and we are tired. We are ill, and we are tired ofit I can’t breathe.”

An LAPD spokesperson stated: “The person in the Instagram post was detained as a possible suspect of a crime. It was determined to be the wrong suspect and he was let go. The incident is being investigated.”
