Brixton: 15 officers injured and police cars smashed after street party

Fifteen officers have actually been injured and police cars smashed up throughout “significant disorder” following a street party in Brixton over night.

Video footage on social media revealed a line of police pulling back from crowds of people on Cecilia Roadway near the Angell Town estate in Brixton.

Bottles were tossed at the officers and in one video a guy seemed displaying a long sword at them.

2 men might be seen on top of a police vehicle smashing in the windshield with a big things and their feet.

Another 2 men were seen bring a big wood table prior to putting it on the flooring and ripping the legs off then performing at the police who began to run away as the crowd came towards them.

One male had what seemed a plant of wood and was striking the back of a police van with it prior to it was repelled.

A Met Police declaration stated officers were contacted us to the scene on Wednesday night to reports of a big unlicensed street party and attempted to motivate the crowd to leave as big events are not permitted due to the coronavirus lockdown, however “they did not engage with police”.

More officers then boiled down and the group ended up being hostile towards them and regardless of a dispersal zone order being given the crowd stayed.

None of the officers were seriously injured, however 2 required health center treatment.

4 people were apprehended for attack and public order offenses and stay in police custody.

The crowd ultimately left in the early hours of Thursday and police are now performing stop and search orders in the location “to prevent violence”, the declaration stated.
