New fleet of MotoGP safety vehicles will go into action at the Qatar GP

BMW M presented this Tuesday the new fleet of vehicles that will assume the role of Safety Car in the MotoGP world championship of 2021, which includes the BMW M3, M4 and M5 CS, as well as the new BMW M 1000 RR, the first motorcycle to receive the M designation

The new fleet of MotoGP safety vehicles will take action at the Qatar GP, where the three new models of four will be present wheels, while the BMW M 1000 RR will make its debut at the Portuguese GP, the first European race of the championship that will take place in Portimão on April 18.

As of the Portuguese event, the new fleet of MotoGP safety vehicles joins the already existing Safety Car, BMW M8 Competition Coupe and BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe , as well as the BMW X5, the championship medical vehicle.

BMW has revealed that the standard versions of these new M models, were developed from the beginning to offer “a sporty performance and perfect behavior” . Therefore, the models at the service of the World Championship have only undergone the necessary changes to transform these vehicles into MotoGP safety cars.

For this, a light bar on the roof, flashing front lights, as well as a chain cut-out system were introduced. In addition, the M4 Competition Coupe has lost the rear seats and is equipped with a ‘roll bar’, as well as a shorter exhaust.

For the first time, the Sfatey Car fleet of the MotoGP World Championship will feature a BMW 1000 RR, which appears with the same paintwork as the motorcycle that the BMW team will use it in the Superbike World Championship.
