Audi will not make new combustion engines
German brand will move to alternative engines
Audi will stop making new combustion engines and focus the activity on alternative engines such as electric ones, since the costs of those are no longer matched by the benefits.
Bearing in mind the Euro 7 emission standards, the CEO of Audi says that developing an engine that meets them represents an “immense technical challenge accompanied by few benefits for the environment.”
“This places immense restrictions on the internal combustion engine,” said Markus Duesmann in a quote from «Carscoops».
In these statements collected in an interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, Duesmann explains that stopping designing new engines does not mean stopping the development of the existing ones so that they respect the emission targets as long as possible.
