Armed attack on the Revolutionary Guards in Balochistan, and conflicting reports of dead and hostages

Muhammad Hadi Marashi, the security assistant to the governor of Balochistan, southeastern Iran, announced an attack by the “Army of Justice” group on Tuesday evening, on a car carrying members of an engineering unit of the Revolutionary Guards, amid conflicting reports of a number of deaths in the ranks of the guards and kidnapping Another number of them were at the hands of militants.

While the “Army of Justice” group claimed responsibility for the attack, and said that it had killed 5 Revolutionary Guards and kidnapped 3 others and held them hostage, the authorities did not announce any deaths or the presence of kidnappers.

Marashi told Iranian TV that the armed attack took place near the village of Kashtakan in the Bembisht region, one of the suburbs of the city of Sarawan, which was the scene of widespread protests after the killing of about 16 fuel tankers by the bullets of the Revolutionary Guards.

This is while the “Balochistan Watch website”, which covers the news of the “Army of Justice” group, reported that the organization’s operatives attacked two Revolutionary Guard vehicles, killing 5 soldiers and detaining 3 others as hostages.

He added that The Army of Justice group confirmed its claim of the attack in a statement.

The website also reported that a bloody confrontation took place between the two sides, and the clashes continued until late Tuesday evening.

The attack comes. The “Army of Justice” against the Revolutionary Guards after days of widespread protests in the Sistan and Baluchestan region against the backdrop of the killing of a number of fuel sellers and smugglers days ago, in that region whose people are in poverty.
