Anthony Johnson wants to be the first man to submit Glover Teixeira when he takes on with the grappler in the UFC Jacksonville main event.

Anthony “Lionheart” Smith has a clear goal ahead of his battle with Glover Teixeira, which occurs as the main event on Wednesday, May 13 at UFC Jacksonville which’s to submit Teixeira and be the first man to do so in a Mixed Martial Arts bout.

“If I put my analyst hat on I’m not always so great at picking the winner,” Smith informed FanSided. “I’m better at giving options at possibly could happen. So it really depends on Glover, like if he comes out, guns blazing, you know it’s gonna suck for five or six minutes. It’s not going to be fun, because he’s still just as tough as has ever been. I would imagine though he’s going to come out a little more calculated and then look to grapple more like he has been later on in his career. And if that happens, you know as much as I like Glover, as much as I respect him and still owe him … Yeah, I think it’s gonna be a short night for him. If he’s gonna go grappling heavy it’s gonna be a really bad night for him. It’s just … that’s just my game. That’s where I kind of, that’s kind of where I flourish. It’s the sprawl and brawl kind of approach and I imagine that that’s how he’s gonna have to approach it. I don’t think that he’s gonna be able to stand on the outside and let me pick him apart, that’s not a good look either so if … (long pause) Oh, f–k it, I’ll say it. I think I’m going to submit Glover Teixeira. I do. I think I’m going to hurt him on his feet and I think he’s going to take a sloppy shot and I’m going to catch his neck. I believe I might be the first person ever to submit him if it goes that way.” X8uHzMcg

Smith is appropriate if he sends Teixeira he’ll be the first man to protect a submission over the grappler in a Mixed Martial Arts battle. Of Teixeira’s 7 losses 4 were by decision and 3 through KO/TKO.

Smith, on the other hand, holds a massive 12 submission success consisting of a rear-naked choke finish of Alexander Gustafsson in Sweden in 2015. Smith is likewise active in the grappling scene taking part in Quintet Ultra and Submission Underground (SUG), to name a few.

Chael Sonnen just recently revealed that Smith was among the hardest men to match for the SUG promo a task that Smith chuckles off.

“Honestly, I just love competing in Jiu-Jitsu, and I don’t know why people act like I’m some two-headed fire breathing dragon,” he chuckled. “I haven’t been able to compete in Jiu-Jitsu like at a high level for like … I don’t even think I’ve competed since I’ve got my black belt.”
