Alternate has received a quota of PS5 consoles. Instead of simply selling it, the online retailer starts an application process. It is important to be fast!

“Only for true gaming fans! We don’t give bots and co. A chance! ”This is what it says on Alternate’s special page about the sale of the latest batch of Sony Playstation 5. The online shop has 265 PS5 consoles in stock. However, they should only be bought by people who do not intend to resell them to the highest bidder afterwards.

Alternate only wants to sell to “real gamers”

In a tweet about the campaign, Alternate makes the motivation clear: Only “real gaming fans” should get a chance to buy a PS5 buy, it says there. And: bots are a nuisance. Therefore one wants to ensure that only “real gamers” get one of the “coveted Playstation 5”.

That’s why Alternate came up with a lottery. By Friday evening at 11:59 p.m. (March 12th, 2021), prospective buyers must leave their personal data on the lottery page and describe in a free text field why they should be taken into account when allocating the PS5. Alternate gives the following tips:

“In the free text field, please let us know the following in a creative way: Tell us exactly why you should receive the promotional item at the promotional price. How you convince us of yourself as a suitable candidate is up to you, whether with a creative letter of motivation, your own YouTube videos or links to your social media profiles, where you show your passion for the promotional item in pictures. ”

To At the end of the application period, a jury from the retailer should decide who has truly earned his PS5. Particularly complex applications that also contain social media elements seem to be particularly promising.

Small downer: Alternate only sells bundles. At the time of publication of this article you can apparently only apply for one of the 230 PS5 in a bundle with a second controller and the games Dirt 5 and Nioh Collection.
