5 terrorists were assassinated by security forces when they were attempting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence representative stated on Sunday. “In an ongoing anti-infiltration operation in Keran sector of North Kashmir, alert troops braving inclement weather and hostile terrain have so far eliminated five terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the LoC,” defence representative Colonel Rajesh Kalia stated.

One soldier was killed while 2 others were seriously hurt in the operation, he stated.

“Evacuation of the injured is hampered due to heavy snow and rough terrain conditions,” he stated, including the operation was still in development.

Previously, on Saturday 4 terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The security forces released a cordon and search operation based upon intelligence inputs about the existence of militants in Hardmand Guri town in Kulgam, a cops representative stated.

“This operation based on a credible police input. Four terrorists have been killed,” he stated.

He stated weapons and war-like stores were taken from the scene of the encounter.

According to sources, the terrorists were included in the killing of 2 civilians in the south Kashmir district on Wednesday night. The 2 victims were recognized as Ghulam Hassan Wagay and Siraj Ahmad Gorse. Both were locals of Nandimarg.

They were bombarded by unknown shooters at around 11 pm on Wednesday. “Both the persons, who received critical injuries in the firing, were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead,” they stated.
